On Sunday, December 11, in Florence, there has been the “I Am the Future – for Meyer” fashion show: a charity event organized by StesyLab and Spin Factory, to promote emerging fashion designers and support the Meyer Hospital Foundation by donating 30% of proceeds from the sale of the clothes on I AM THE FUTURE website. The location of the event was the Atelier Carla Giulia Cecchi, one of the last remaining high-fashion atelier still active in the city of Florence, whose creations are on display at the Galleria del Costume of Palazzo Pitti. Just climbing the stairs you can feel a wonderful atmosphere of another era: the walls covered with paintings, bronze and marble statues everywhere, the frescoes on the ceilings, a giant baroque mirror and the strong personality of the hostess, Pola Cecchi. There were so many emerging young designers, all different from one another, who shared the same passionate vein of creativity. Sublimen by Silvia Burigana, a young woman (22yo), graduated in Fashion Design (July 2011). She gave birth to her brand thinking of a woman “who decides to be bold, flaunting, extreme; who wants to become a work of art “. Her inspiration comes from the Paul Poiret’s opulence and the Japanese culture, with a constant reference to the cut of the kimono sleeves. The dresses with lace and precious teardrops details, take a new sophisticated look with draped hoods and capes, colored in the neutral tones of camel, black and white. Wendy in Wonderland – brand by the Florentine, Benedetta Mariotti (23 yo). She studies at the Marangoni Institute in Milan, but she has already made an accessories and t-shirts line, that made go crazy a lot of Italian fashion blogger. She presented a new collection with long and short gowns characterized by the high waist and the ruches that move at every step, recreating the waves of the sea. A romantic and sophisticated woman, who plays with the colors, using turquoise, yellow and pink, on the grey basic tone. Bellissimo. Dark atmosphere and barefoot models for 0770. A brand born from the idea of Enzo Pirozzi (costume-fashion designer) and Irene de Caprio (photographer), which combines the traditional Neapolitan tailoring, inherited from the family of Enzo, with the modern experimentations. Their sensibility is not far from the new British designers like Gareth Pugh or the U.S. , Rick Owens. Enzo and Irene make a more intimate and personal work of research, almost theatrical, opposed to the commercial spirit that characterizes our era. Their “shell” coat has literally bewitched me. It’s structured with pleated fabric and studded black leather belts. So wonderful. La main t-shirt dice tutto: “It’s a deja-Vogue”. Glam-street style for JesùLaFrench, the indie-tee-brand by the neo-pop artist Michele Moricci. He presented a new capsule collection inspired by the contemporary fashion icons and the main t-shirt says it all: “It’s a deja-Vogue”. If , in the first collection, we were used to see the outfit-fight between Anna dello Russo and Anna Wintour, now Love triumphs on everything, with the legendary Sex and the City couple “Mr.Big loves Carrie”, or the “Stefano loves Domenico” tee, dedicated to the best-known duo of the Italian fashion. For the icons line, there are the “Choose your hair” tee, that captures only some of the most popular Lady Gaga hairstyles, or the 3D version of the great Franca Sozzani, editor in chief of Vogue Italia. In the end, for all the Audrey Hepburn addicted: you can’t miss the menu tee “I am HAVING Breakfast at Tiffany’s” with the croissant and a coffee to go, and the precious blue box that you are waiting for!
