\ncharacter made in collaboration with Frank Gehry and the director
\nChristopher Alden. They wanted to try to “show music”,
\nnot overwhelming it with the visual part<\/b>. The high-tech
\nfabrics and details, combined with armors and futuristic suits
\ndesigned for the male characters, collide with silk and taffeta
\nencrusted with Swarovski crystals of women’s clothing. <\/b>The
\nwomen’s clothes seemed to come from by an imaginary fairytale,
\ninspired by nature, in the typical style of the Californian sisters.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nmaternal grandmother was an opera singer. <\/b>Their passion for
\ntheater and art (but also the influence of Anna Wintour), led them to
\ncreate costumes for the film Black Swan in 2010 and most recently to
\npartner with the same choreographer of the film, Benjamin Millepied,
\nfor the premiere of his new job at the New York City Ballet. This
\noccasion has been definitely an interesting turning point for Rodarte
\nbrand, blending art and fashion even outside the catwalks…once

The choice of the costume designers and set decorators teams is one of the peculiarity of the event. Every year the set will be conceived by a famous archi-star as well as the costumes will be designed by a talented fashion designer, in order to recreate from a “visual” point of view, the historical artistic collaboration between Mozart and Da Ponte. La particolarit\u00e0 dell’evento risiede nella scelta di allestitori e costumisti, ogni anno infatti le scenografie saranno realizzate da tre archistar che collaboreranno con altrettanti stilisti, per ricreare sotto una prospettiva visiva, lo storico sodalizio artistico-musicale tra Mozart e Da Ponte. Gehry to create the set and costumes of “Don Giovanni”, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the theater that bears the signature of Gehry. Il 19 Maggio \u00e8 stato il turno delle sorelle Kate e Laura Mulleavy, duo creativo di Rodarte, che insieme al grande Frank O. Gehry hanno allestito “Don Giovanni” diretto dal maestro Gustavo Dudamel alla Walt Disney Concert Hall, teatro che porta la firma dello stesso Gehry. Gehry said he imagined the white paper set as “a still life in motion on the stage” interacting with the costumes and highlighting the music of Don Giovanni. He placed the orchestra upon the stage on raised platforms, to about a meters from the theatrical action, creating a more direct relationship between stage and audience. Gehry dice di aver pensato ad un allestimento di carta bianca che come “una natura morta in movimento nello spazio scenico”, interagisce con i costumi e mette in rilievo la musica del Don Giovanni, collocando l’orchestra sul palcoscenico su pedane rialzate a circa un metro sul piano dove si svolge l’azione teatrale, creando un rapporto pi\u00f9 diretto tra scena e pubblico. The Don Giovanni costumes by Rodarte are the result of a meticulous study of each character made in collaboration with Frank Gehry and the director Christopher Alden. They wanted to try to “show music”, not overwhelming it with the visual part. The high-tech fabrics and details, combined with armors and futuristic suits designed for the male characters, collide with silk and taffeta encrusted with Swarovski crystals of women’s clothing. The women’s clothes seemed to come from by an imaginary fairytale, inspired by nature, in the typical style of the Californian sisters. I costumi del Don Giovanni disegnati da Rodarte sono frutto del meticoloso studio di ogni personaggio avvenuto in collaborazione con Frank Gehry ed il regista Christopher Alden, per cercare di “mostrare la musica”, non sopraffacendola con la parte visiva. I tessuti e i dettagli high tech, combinati a corazze e tute futuristiche pensate per i personaggi maschili, si scontrano con la seta ed il taffett\u00e0 tempestati di cristalli Swarovski degli abiti femminili. Abiti di un immaginario fiabesco, ispirato alla natura, nel tipico stile delle sorelle californiane. The relationship between Music and the Mulleavy sisters has deep roots, in fact, their maternal grandmother was an opera singer. Their passion for theater and art (but also the influence of Anna Wintour), led them to create costumes for the film Black Swan in 2010 and most recently to partner with the same choreographer of the film, Benjamin Millepied, for the premiere of his new job at the New York City Ballet. This occasion has been definitely an interesting turning point for Rodarte brand, blending art and fashion even outside the catwalks…once again.
