Il fenomeno “prese piede” a metà degli anni ’80 quando gli eroi del basket come Michael Jordan iniziarono a firmare linee di calzature sportive in collaborazione con i grandi brand (Nike, Adidas, Puma, Reebok) ed i rapper facevano a gara per ostentarle come status symbol e non più come semplici scarpe per praticare sport. Nowadays we can say that sneakers are the footwear that have revolutionized the world of fashion in the last thirty years, bringing the rebellious “style of the street” directly on the high fashion runways. The phenomenon took off in the mid-80’s when the heroes of basketball such as Michael Jordan began to sign lines of sports shoes in collaboration with the major brands (Nike, Adidas, Puma, Reebok) and the rappers vied to flaunt them as status symbols and not as simple sports shoes.  Per capire a fondo l’universo delle sneakers ho avuto l’occasione di intervistare Andrea Dal Zennaro, designer veneziano che vanta una grandissima esperienza come consulente e collaboratore per le maggiori griffe internazionali quali Chanel, D&G, Tod’s e Trussardi, solo per citarne alcune. Grazie alla sua sensibilità e alla capacità di percepire o anticipare i trend è riuscito ad acquisire una certa fama nel campo, ottenendo nel tempo incarichi sempre più importanti che gli hanno permesso di reinterpretare anche gli elementi iconici che hanno fatto la storia dell’alta moda. Recently I had the opportunity to interview Andrea Dal Zennaro to understand the world of sneakers. He is a Venetian designer with a great experience as consultant and contributor for the major international brands such as Chanel, D&G, Tod’s and Trussardi, to name a few. He has acquired a certain reputation in the field, due to his sensitivity and ability to perceive or anticipate the trends, obtaining increasingly senior positions over the time, which also allowed him to reinterpret the iconic elements that have made the costume history.   Parlando nello specifico delle sue ispirazioni ci rivela che il modello icona, la sneaker per eccellenza, sia la Stan Smith Adidas, copiata e riproposta in milioni di fogge, è un pezzo vintage inconfondibile, il modello perfetto che ha lasciato un profondo segno nell’universo delle sneaker. Speaking about his inspirations, Andrea reveals that the iconic model, the sneaker par excellence, is the Adidas Stan Smith. Copied and repeated in millions of styles, is a unique vintage piece, the perfect model that has left a deep mark in the sneaker universe.    Nonostante la moda attuale sia fortemente condizionata dal passato, Andrea Dal Zennaro è uno di quei designer convinti che la moda sia ancora in continua evoluzione grazie alle sperimentazioni di nuovi materiali e nuove forme ergonomiche che rispondano in pieno alle esigenze del cliente. Sostiene infatti che il futuro delle sneakers sarà proprio il concetto di PERSONALIZZAZIONE in base ai gusti del cliente, rendendo così ogni scarpa unica. Lui stesso è impegnato in un ambizioso progetto personale che gli permetta di realizzare una scarpa modellabile e personalizzabile grazie al taglio della modelleria. Despite the great influences of the past that characterize this historical fashion time, Andrea Dal Zennaro is one of those designers who strongly believes in the fashion evolution, thanks to the experimentation of new materials and ergonomic shapes that fully respond to the customer demands. He argues that the future of the sneakers is just the concept of CUSTOMIZATION, according to the tastes of the client, making each shoe unique. All these elements make the Italian sneakers the best on the market.    Nonostante i tanti impegni professionali e personali dall’intervista emerge come Andrea Dal Zennaro sia sempre in cerca di continui stimoli attraverso viaggi, nuove conoscenze, ricerche d’archivio e si dice elettrizzato all’idea di poter intraprendere nuove sfide e collaborazioni.
