Top 3 of London Fashion Week – Fall Winter 2014

Right after New York is the turn of the London Fashion Week, that brought a sense of light-heartedness and joy of living to the next autumn-winter 2014 thanks to a whirlwind of colors and prints. Here it is my top 3 of the best collections that definitely “animated” the London Fashion Week with an energy burst .

First of all, I want to mention Christopher Bailey for Burberry Prorsum, who created a perfect collection that respects the heritage of the brand, with an unexpected contemporary twist due to the splashes of brilliant colors on stoles, coats, bags and accessories inspired by the works of Duncan Grant, the well known member of the Bloomsbury group together with the painters Dora Carrington and Vanessa Bell.

At the second place, one of the living icons of the British style, Paul Smith. He presented a relaxed-fit collection inspired to masculine pajamas and night-gowns covered by colorful striped and floral patterns. No pajamas has ever been so sensual.

Finally, Christopher Kane, the whiz kid who puts a lot of themes in every collection, analyzing and interpreting them from different angles in a crescendo of never repetitive emotions. Once again we are in front of an eclectic collection whose protagonist is the black nylon, reinterpreted in all its possible forms: from simple and charming decorative element such as ruffles or ruching, or a whole evening dress edged with lace, or as a coat with fur lapels. To these feminine-but-strong clothes, we can add delicate cocktail dresses with curly-sleeves that create sculptures along the arms. The show ends with a few organza demi-couture masterpieces which structure is made like the pages of a book.
