New Talents – Mario Chiarella Fall Winter 2013 collection

I’m sure that many of you remember Mario Chiarella, the emerging designer I met in September (during the Milan fashion week) who surprised me with his total white collection made of sculpture silhouettes and origami applique.

Well, forget all that “celestial” white because the new Mario Chiarella Fall Winter 2013 collection is dedicated to a gritty, glam, sexy, but refined woman.

I was literally shocked when I saw the look-book of the new Mario Chiarella collection: I was expecting geometric and minimal clothes with faded colors, but I found a femme fatale who expresses her sensuality through the transparency of the black laminate lace, the fire red cashmere cloth, the jacquard weaves, the watercolor floral prints on silk and the fur applications. All the top high-quality materials, symbol of the Made in Italy excellence.

As accessories, handmade sculpture metal belts, as well as special applications developed in collaboration with Trebosi nail reconstruction company, in order to make abstract flowers inspired by the brush strokes of Vincent Van Gogh.

Through a quick words with Mario, I asked the reason of this style change, passing from a geometrci total white collection to a red and black one with more sinuous silhouettes. He simply told me:
– I love to get in the game, I like to change. For me fashion is a game without rules, a dream without limits.
I can only add that Mario Chiarella is a good player in this “fashion game” and I wish him to continue to dream, especially from the 26th to 29th of March, when together with LAURA STRAMBI by YOJ (the company that produces his line) he will present the collection at the Chic international fashion fair in Beijing.
