INTERVIEW: LEITMOTIV – Fall Winter 2012/2013 COLLECTION “L’UNIVERSO ELEGANTE”

Molti li conoscono grazie al progetto Who is on next?

During the Milan Fashion Week I attended the presentation of the Leitmotiv women Fall Winter 2012/2013 collection and I interviewed the creative duo composed by Fabio Sasso and Juan Caro. In the recent years they achieved an international success thanks to their clothing and accessory collections full of imaginary prints. They came out in the international scene in 2009 with the Vogue Italia “Who Is On Next?” project and most of the people began to recognize their style thanks to the several collaborations with the leading Italian companies such as Borsalino, Furla and Alcantara (this one presented at the last edition of Pitti Uomo). Fabio and Juan decided to start all these collaborations within the spirit of growing step by step as a company, without forging ahead and remaining faithful to their identity. From the interview emerges that their prints are strongly linked to the experiences of the everyday life. They talk about the emotions they felt and then try to transform their ideas into images and colors. Each story comes from the first emotional-image which contains all the others, and as a tree, it gets up from the roots, grows and opens to the world through the branches. Each collection is like a page of a diary of life in    which there are more than six months of work. Click here to read the interview on PremièreShooting.com.

The Fall Winter 2012/2013 collection called “The ELEGANT UNIVERSE” comes from the image of the Universe that emits a beautiful symphony while is expanding. The women’s collection it’s a sort of transposition of the words of the Italian scientist Margherita Hack: “All the matter we are made of, comes from the stars. We are truly children of the stars.” The Leitmotiv woman wants to amaze and surprise without sacrifice comfort. She’s a urban heroine ready for her daily battle, but without neglecting the style. She lives each moment as in search of a new identity, like a star that constantly evolves and changes its shape and energy. The clothes are full of unmistakable LEITMOTIV prints with silhouettes ranging from the 70’s A-line dress, to the 80’s bombers jackets passing by the fluorescent 90’s tights, the 50’s bag and the tango shoes reinterpreted with studs.

The LEITMOTIV man seems to revive a memory from childhood, when he observed the stars from his bedroom imagining that the walls were transforming into trees and the opened ceiling showed an endless sky, the universe. His amazement was so strong and powerful that even now, as an adult, he wants to try all those emotions through his romantic vision of life that allows him to go beyond the boundaries of the tangible reality. The LEITMOTIV man seems to be divided between the practicality of casual items such as jeans, leather jackets and backpacks, and the refinement of the prints, reproposed on quilted bomber jacket, sweater and shirts revealing his eclectic and original spirith.

Bravi!
Ottimo post – come sempre – e ottima intervista.
